Arnold J. Mungioli has worked as a Broadway Casting Director for over three decades. His unique eye on the process enables him to offer students and actors beneficial and effective insights beyond the scope of ordinary workshops.
As a teacher, Arnold has devoted himself to years of Teacher Development Master Classes with the Late Great Lloyd Richards, Earl Gister, Bill Esper, David Craig, Slava Dolgachev, Olympia Dukakis, Michael Kahn, Therese Hayden, Deborah Hecht, and a host of first class mentors -- this ongoing study makes him uniquely qualified to translate what happens in the Audition Room into terms actors can easily grasp.
What is being taught in the top training programs is very much what we are looking to see in the audition room. Arnold’s work with students is largely about empowering them to recognize that. These Casting Workshops deepen for your students how important their study of acting is to the achievement of their goals, leaving them with a newfound respect for what they are learning and a deeper concentration and enhanced appetite for the work.
Arnold’s roster of credits includes major (in several cases, historically significant) Broadway Shows and involves working with a notably distinguished caliber of Creative Teams in the Industry.
The unique balance of professional Casting credits with Education experience that is offered in this workshop is unparalleled in the Industry. In addition to an extensive Casting career and multiple current projects, Arnold’s years of workshop and teaching credits include Ivy League Programs, as well as maintaining a weekly class at the NYU Tisch School of the Arts entitled “Preparing For The Profession” for two decades, and Access Musical Theater Forum, a weekly Musical Theater Audition Gymnasium for working actors for over five years.
This workshop experience (and presentation) goes beyond what many casting colleagues are able to offer, reaching further than standard so-called “mock auditions with callbacks” to ready the students for real auditions. Arnold takes the approach of a more in-depth examination of the actor’s material and helps them to connect with a logic and a process that they can then apply to their entire repertoire, supplying a ripple effect of long term benefits to their audition work and professional hire-ability.
The combination of this format, pedigree, and in-depth analysis has made a profound difference in the lives of countless actors over the years. Past students of these classes and workshops include Rachel Brosnahan and Darren Criss, both Emmy Award & Golden Globe winners this year for their performance work, among a high percentage of other working professionals.
I believe this workshop will be of unique benefit to your students, and has the potential to dramatically upgrade the caliber and elevate the reputation of your program’s output into the Industry.
I look forward to working with you!
